Even though the original ZenWatch is not widely available, ASUS decided to announce its successor. Similar to the Apple Watch, this smart watch will also be available in two different sizes, one measuring 49 x 41 mm and can take 22mm watch bands, and a smaller one at 45 x 37mm which fits 18mm bands.
The Android Wear-powered device sports a metal crown, as well as a digital crown (again similar to the Apple Watch). Unlike the first ZenWatch which used the somewhat frustrating charging dock, the new version rocks a magnetic charging setup that also happen to enable faster charging.
Beyond two different sizes, the ZenWatch 2 also comes with three different body colors — silver, gunmetal and rose gold — few leather options (blue, orange, red and taupe), "premium leather" straps (khaki, brown, gray, blue, and orange), and the stainless steel strap option which comes in the same three colors as the watch body. Like that's not enough, ASUS has also partnered with Swarovski to bring crystal-adorned straps.
Other specs include a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 AMOLED screen, unspecified Qualcomm processor, IP67 water resistance, while the latest version of Android Wear (5.1.1 Lollipop) is running the show. On top of that, ASUS bundled its "wellness" app for health tracking, and a "Watch Face Land" app to allow users to create their own watch faces.
The Taiwanese company will start selling the ZenWatch 2 in early Q3; pricing details were not announced, though.
