China-based Huami unveiled a line of Amazfit fashionable wearables. Initially backed by the smartphone maker Xiaomi, the company’s offering consists of a small donut-shaped smart tracker that comes in two colors — white and black — and a wide selection of bands and straps.

With a simple look and feel, Amazfit may be the device that will make wearables appealing to the wider audience, even those who aren’t necessarily eager to keep up with their steps, calories and so on.

Amazfit sideThe device doesn’t have an LED light but will deliver most (or all) of the features Xiaomi’s Mi Band has. These would include step counting and activity tracking, vibration alarms and notifications, and a sleep tracker. Amazfit also adds scenario monitoring and smart home control to the mix, as well as wireless charging.

The company behind the product, Huami Technology, was created as a joint venture between Xiaomi and Huaheng Electronic Technology, the last of which actually makes these gizmos. Later on, Huami managed to attract more money for its business, namely $35 million from Banyan Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Morningside Capital.

Amazfit will be available in China for 299 Yuan, which is an equivalent of $50. It remains to be seen whether it can be as nearly as popular as Xiaomi’s own Mi Band.
