Activity tracker for kids unveiled – Nabi Compete

Nabi Compete wearable

Fuhu, which created one of the first (if not the first) tablets for kids, is entering the wearables space with a device targeting the same audience. The newly announced Nabi Compete is an activity tracker created to meet the needs of kids and families, while making fitness fun, relatable and social.

The device comes packaged with two kid-friendly bands that work with a companion mobile app offering competitive gamified approach to activity tracking. The system encourages activity at an early age by competing against friends or family members in achievable real-world inspired challenges. Nabi Compete is now available at Target and Best Buy for a suggested retail price of $39.99 for the 2-band packs.

“With the launch of Nabi Compete, we believe we have developed a product and platform that will excite kids, get them active at an early age and fuel their interest and awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and personal fitness,” said Jim Mitchell, CEO of Fuhu.

Nabi Compete is now available at Target and Best Buy for a suggested retail price of $39.99 for the 2-band packs.Targeting kids ages 6 and up, the device and its companion app challenges kids to, say, race to the end of the Brooklyn Bridge or the National Mall Loop — as opposed to just showing the number of steps children take in a day and the equivalent mileage. This, the company claims, provides children with a sense of achievement and motivates them to continue to stay active and make healthy decisions.

Also, by using Nabi Compete, kids can begin to learn the concept of calories, with the app displaying how many calories they burned off with each activity challenge through comparison of children’s favorite foods like pizza, cheeseburgers and cookies.

Fuhu is offering a variety of wristband accessories for Nabi Compete allowing users to style and personalize their tracker just how they want to express their individuality.
