Arkansas Surgical Hospital taps PeerWell to help joint replacement candidates

PeerWell PreHab

PeerWell — which provides a mobile-enabled platform (PreHab) that helps patients prepare for surgery so they can recover faster — is teaming-up with Arkansas Surgical Hospital, which will use PreHab to help optimize the health of hip and knee replacement patients.

Patients who schedule surgery with select Arkansas Surgical Hospital orthopedic surgeons have the option to use PeerWell’s mobile app on their phone. Using the app, hip and knee replacement candidates will be able to “optimize their health before surgery.” PeerWell will guide them with daily lessons and checklists to prepare for surgery, including proper pre-surgical nutrition, exercise, meditation and home preparation.

“When patients go in for joint surgery, they’re given 50+ pages of preparation instructions,” Manish Shah, CEO of PeerWell, said in a statement. “It’s an outdated method, and most patients simply don’t have the time or patience to peruse all of that information on paper. PeerWell gives them an easy, convenient way to prepare for surgery. And physicians can breathe a little easier, too, knowing that their patients are physically and mentally fit for the procedure.”

The physician-owned Arkansas Surgical Hospital has been independently ranked as the #1 highest quality center for joint replacements in the state, and is known for providing best in class patient care. In 2016 the hospital earned a 5-star Hospital Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), placing it among the top 2% of hospitals in the country.
