Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro officially announced

Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro

The big news for the mobile industry was Samsung’s official launch of the Galaxy Note 8 phablet, which is actually a smartphone with a gigantic display that almost makes it a tablet.

Alongside that product, the Korean giant also unveiled the earlier rumored Gear Fit2 Pro fitness band, which is arguably the best product in its category; it’s not a smartwatch per se mind you, so it’s not fair to compare it with the Apple Watch — Samsung has a smartwatch of its own.

Here’s what the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is all about, specs-wise:

  • 1.5-inch curved Super AMOLED display with resolution of 216×432 pixels
  • Waterproof up to 50 meters
  • Built-in GPS
  • 4GB of built-in memory (storage)
  • 200mAh battery
  • Samsung’s own Tizen OS is running the show.

Samsung says that the device will be able to automatically detect the type of activity you’re doing and record it, whether that’s playing tennis, running or — thanks to its waterproof body — swimming.

The price is still unknown though earlier rumors suggested the Gear Fit2 Pro will sell for $199.99. That’s a lot of money for a wearable product no matter how fancy it is, don’t you agree?
