Apple is looking for a sales person on the West Coast to help it grow its share in the healthcare field. The employment ad, spotted by 9th5Mac, asks for an “IBM Business Development Executive – Healthcare & Retail” who would reside in either Seattle or Los Angeles.
The ad says that the person hired for this position would be responsible to: “Measure and manage all operational responsibilities of the partnership lifecycle – team introductions, joint customer meetings, deliverables like workshops, device and App pipelines, AppleCare for Enterprise pipeline, etc.”
VentureBeat‘s source tunes into this, adding that Apple is hoping to get an escort into legacy health care provider accounts via IBM, with the goal of replacing some of the apps traditionally provided by Microsoft with Apple/IBM ones.
Instead of signing into Microsoft’s HealthVault, Apple/IBM partners/clients would connect into HealthKit, Apple’s platform that integrates various health data points, which has already been embraced by such big name providers as Mayo Clinic.
If you recall, the Cupertino-based giant has teamed-up with IBM to develop a number of apps for Big Blue’s clients, and as far as we (don’t) know – this could be a part of that strategy.
