UCSC’s Digital Health Accelerator unveils its second class with 6 startups

Philadelphia-based University City Science Center’s Digital Health Accelerator has unveiled its second class of digital health startups. Only six companies were selected from a pool of 69 applicants via a multi-stage process which emphasized inclusion of women and minority entrepreneurs.

Startups selected to the program received up to $50,000, professional mentorship, along with networking opportunities with local insurers, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and research institutions. Also, as part of the 12-month program, companies get membership to the Innovation Center @3401 (ic@3401), which is a partnership between the Science Center and Drexel University, in collaboration with Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Safeguard Scientifics.

Launched in 2014 by the Science Center, the Digital Health Accelerator is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration Growth Accelerator Fund, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development. Its first class with seven companies have gone from prototype to commercialization, creating 68 new jobs, generating over $1 million in revenue, and raising almost $9 million in follow-on investment.
