MedData to acquire patient engagement software maker Duet Health

Duet Health

MEDNAX-owned provider of health IT solutions MedData is acquiring Duet Health, a developer of patient engagement software and mHealth solutions.

Founded in 2009, Duet provides multi-platform software that empowers hospitals, health systems, and providers to better communicate and engage with their patients. The company’s Patient Intelligence Center provides real-time monitoring of every click, transaction, and entry to create more meaningful patient interactions and improve operational effectiveness.

Duet provides white-labeled solutions that allow physician and administrative staff to send secure text, image, and video messages; hold secure image libraries; retrieve on-call schedules and directories; and access a variety of additional features to enhance productivity.

In other words, the solution improves physician-to-physician communication without disrupting organizational workflow. The device-agnostic software is available in web, mobile, and kiosk options.

“This acquisition immediately gives hospitals and providers access to some of the best tools available and a technology platform that will extend their reach and transform their approach to patient engagement,” Ann Barnes, CEO of MedData, said in a statement. “Coupled with our suite of patient-focused services, including eligibility and enrollment, third party liability, and patient reimbursement, clients have a more complete solution to deal with the growing issue of patient responsibility.”

Duet’s CEO Jeff Harper is also pleased with the deal, which will enable its software to be introduced to a wider audience. “Delivering impactful solutions that improve outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, and ultimately boost productivity and ROI will continue to be our focus – but MedData gives us the ability to better scale development and deliver solutions faster to our clients,” he added.
