Jumpstart Foundry announced the addition of 15 new healthcare startups that make up its 2019 portfolio. These companies span direct-to-consumer goods, diagnostic devices, and remote patient monitoring in payer, provider and employer spaces. They are located across the US — including Arizona, California, Wisconsin, and Nashville.
New startups include:
- Saint Louis, MO-based AGOGIE Resistance Apparel, which turns daily activities into passive workouts that enable users to burn calories, tone muscle and build stronger muscles simply by wearing pants.
- Kegelbell, a Meza, AZ-based company that aims to transform how women can take care of their bodies beginning with pelvic health. It has made the first, externally weighted, vaginal weight lifting system targeting the hard to reach pelvic floor muscle.
- ScribeLink reduces physician documentation burden so doctors can focus on patient care through the use of a remote scribe who can listen to the doctor’s patient interaction and document accordingly. It is based in San Jose, CA.
- Carepool is a transportation procurement platform that connects special needs passengers with their care managers, trained drivers, and third party payers. The Madison, WI-based company fills the transportation gap for high-need, rural-based patients.
- Sunnyvale, CA-based Lotus Scrubs is a subscription based service for medical professionals to purchase low-cost, quality scrubs.
- Nouri exists to increase mental and physical health globally. It does so by creating clinically-supported consumer products, like probiotic capsules, targeted at gut health. The company is based in Atlanta, GA.
- Based in Colombia, TN – Ruth Clinic provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), the gold standard in opioid addiction recovery. You receive a personal physician, a dedicated counselor and prescription medications such as Suboxone that keep you well while curing your addiction.
- iTherapyDocs builds enterprise software solutions for the $65B Medicaid Intellectual and Developmentally Disabled (IDD) Market. Their platform improves IDD agency management efficiencies and increases revenues while eliminating administrative errors that can lead to Medicaid fraud. The company is based in Albuquerque, NM.
- San Francisco, CA-based Medifies provides software that allows hospitals to push immediate notifications to the families of their patients to keep them informed on what’s happening and what to do while they are in a hospital waiting room. This digital communication helps the families feel more at ease and informed without having to sit in waiting rooms for hours on end.
- Intelligent Observation from Miami, FL has created a system that allows hospitals to track handwashing compliance from their staff and thereby reduce hospital acquired infection rates.
- Based in Chicago, IL – Lytic is building virtual care tools that make it easier to find and receive personalized care. The patient-facing product, Clearstep, allows users to describe any symptoms in free text, engages in a digital dialog to learn more, and offers: (1) best next steps for care, (2) possible causes of symptoms, and (3) home care advice.
- surefhir is a data-governance EMR plug-in that promotes care coordination. Their platform delivers automatic updates to a care team, ultimately improving communication efficiency and reducing provider screen time. They monitor provider activity in the EHR (such as notes, orders, chart surfing) and determine who is involved in care delivery and what data is visible. The company is based in Atlanta, GA.
- Vision Care Connect is a complete concierge patient acquisition service tailored for Ophthalmology. They market elective restorative vision procedures such as LASIK, KAMRA Inlay, Refractive Lens Exchange and Cataract surgery which drive significant revenue to Ophthalmology clinics. The company is based in Nashville, TN.
- Destin, FL-based CaptoGlove produces a wearable machine interface and sensors to transform human movements in digital outputs for a wide range of applications.
- Curemint centralizes the purchasing and billing process between suppliers and dental organizations in one easy-to-use platform providing real-time analytics to ensure optimal purchasing behavior. It is based in Los Angeles, CA.
Jumpstart Foundry says that almost a third of its 2019 cohort is Direct-to-Consumer, and 25% of the companies are run by women.
