Fitbit Blaze & Fitbit Alta

Fitbit proudly announced that shipments of its latest gizmos, Fitbit Blaze and Fitbit Alta, have each surpassed 1 million in their first month of availability. Both devices are also topping Amazon’s bestseller lists, with Blaze capturing the #1 spot in both the smart watch and heart monitor categories on Amazon.

“At Fitbit, we continue to focus on developing innovative and motivating fitness-first products that our customers love and that help them achieve their health and fitness goals,” Woody Scal, Chief Business Officer of Fitbit, said in a statement. “The positive response we’ve received to Blaze and Alta demonstrates our continued ability to innovate and drive strong demand for Fitbit products, which is what has made and kept us the leader in the global wearables category.”

Fitbit Blaze is a $199.95 fitness-focused smartwatch with PurePulse continuous, wrist-based heart rate tracking. It also features SmartTrack automatic exercise recognition, automatic sleep tracking, and FitStar by Fitbit on-screen workouts, among other things. Beyond fitness, it can also deliver notifications from a smartphone to one’s wrist. The Blaze is currently available in North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia, with shipments to China, Korea and Japan starting in the Spring.

Fitbit Alta, on the other hand, is a more basic fitness tracker that is made to look stylish on a wearer’s hand. It sells for $129.95, packing such features as Reminders to Move, SmartTrack automatic exercise recognition, and all day activity and automatic sleep tracking. It too has smart notifications, and a battery life of up to 5 days on a single charge.

In 2015, Fitbit moved 21.4 million of its devices, generating 92 percent more revenues than a year before.
