It has been suggested multiple times that HTC is working on a wearable device. Some rumors suggested the Taiwanese company may launch a full-blown smart watch powered by Google’s Android Wear platform.
Those plans were scrapped and the latest tidbit of information — coming from VentureBeat — says that HTC will unveil a fitness band (rather than a smart watch) during the first quarter of next year.
The report goes on to say that HTC will use CES in Las Vegas to show the world what it can do. At that time, HTC-made fitness band won’t be available though, with the device hitting the store shelves later in the year.
The Taiwanese company has been working with unnamed fitness app developers to make for a that much more compelling product. The spokesperson said that the new wearable will be “very different” from anything currently on the market, leaving us pondering for more information…
