Alcatel Watch with Android, not Android Wear, unveiled

Alcatel Watch

Just before CES kicks off in Las Vegas, Alcatel has unveiled its first smartwatch that runs special version of Android rather than Android Wear.

Although no numbers have been shared, the company promises an affordable price point that will be available “at a fraction of the cost of competitors.”

Hardware details are missing as well, though we see that the watch has a round face which, according to Alcatel, gives is the “same look and feel as a traditional watch.” It will be able to sing along Android smartphones and be used for music playback control, remote shutter button for the phone’s camera and receive notifications. Some fitness tracking software with heart rate monitoring capability will come included, as well.

The Alcatel Watch will be released later in the year; we’ll update this article when we get new information on pricing and availability. Stay tuned…
