Atheer Labs has raised $8.8 million in equity, options, and securities, an SEC filing is revealing. The Mountain View, California-based company makes an augmented reality headset for few industries, healthcare being one of the them.

One of the investors is Streamlined Ventures Founder Ullas Naik, though he is not listed on Atheer Labs’ board or among its advisors.

Atheer Labs has developed an augmented interactive reality platform AiR, which puts users in a gesture-controlled environment through the Atheer AiR DK2 smart glasses. Said glasses run special software called Air OS that provides useful information overlaid onto the real world. From here, users are able to interact with the virtual data “in a natural way,” the company explains.

For clinicians, Atheer’s product will provide quick access to medical records and vitals without turning away from the patient to help increase care quality. “Nurses can view medical data from a wide range of monitoring devices, on the go, helping them properly respond to any medical situation,” Atheer Labs explains.

Other use cases of Atheer’s platform include construction, warehousing, and oil and gas.
