UK-based iPLATO announced that its flagship GP service, iPLATO Patient Care Messaging now reaches more than 10 million patients through more than 1,000 GP practices in England. Said solution allows practices to set up automated appointment reminders and run high performance mobile patient engagement using text messages.

The first version of iPLATO Care Messaging launched in 2006. The service has been now been adopted by 1 in 8 of GP practices in England. The rate of adoption has increased rapidly over the past 3 months with seven new Clinical Commissioning Groups from the North West of England to Bexley in the South East joining in, adding 170 GP practices that cover some 1.2 million patients.

“We have seen an accelerated uptake of the Patient Care Messaging service so far in 2015,”said Tobias Alpsten, CEO of iPLATO.”While this growth is set to increase further in England in Q2 and Q3 due to the abolition of NHSmail SMS we are also seeing growing interest from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.”

In 2014, iPLATO Patient Care Messaging freed up 300,000 urgent GP appointments, and that number only grew in 2015.

iPLATO prides itself to be the only organization in the UK which has successfully launched text messaging services across more than 50 PCT/CCGs. Through a tested change process the iPLATO team is able to bring the diverse population that work in GP practices to adopt new ways of communicating with patients.
