The company that makes a dedicated medication reminder tablet for seniors, MedaCheck, has raised $1.1 million in a round led by Queen City Angels.
When a senior purchases the tablet, he or she should also send the list of all medications and supplements along with instructions. MedaCheck on its end will setup the software and send the tablet to the user that works out of box — all that’s required is to plug the device into an outlet.
The tablet costs $149 and after the first 30 days, the service costs $30 per month.MedaCheck requires data connection, and the software also includes a large photo and instructions describing how to take different medications.
Once the medication has been taken, seniors should press a button so that the system knows they are keeping up with the schedule. If they miss to do that — or forget to take a medication — someone from MedaCheck’s team will call to remind them. The medication adherence information will be sent to the user’s caregiver, family members, and medical professionals.

The Cincinnati, Ohio-based company is selling its product/service directly to consumers, as well as through different healthcare organizations. Among their partners are Midmark, developer of medical products; TriHealth, a health system; Berger Community Hospital; AvantGuard Monitoring, an alarm monitoring company; and their latest client – senior care organization Home Instead.
