New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System is launching an accelerator called iO to support and partner with companies working to revolutionize patient-centered care.
The accelerator will support solutions for both patients and providers, enabling startups to test and validate their ideas, launch innovative services and even get funded.
iO will focus on developing new ways for providers to manage patient conditions more effectively and efficiently, and empower patients via big data analytics and emerging technology. The idea is that patients using these new digital health tools will be able to take an active role in managing their own health.
Ochsner also announced the three-year-long National Innovation Challenge in partnership with GE Healthcare and The Idea Village to “drive innovative thinking in healthcare.” The goal of the challenge is to improve health outcomes by addressing behavior management and chronic disease. During the first year, the focus is on exploring potential wearable solutions that could optimize the personalized patient experience.
