The Brush Logger makes regular toothbrushes smart

The Brush Logger

A device called Brush Logger aims to add brains to regular toothbrushes, while also providing a place to hold toothbrushes for the entire family.

With the Brush Logger, there is no need to buy a special, smart toothbrush.Beyond tracking, the device — currently raising funds at Kickstarter — will also send notifications to parents when a child is not brushing their teeth (properly), or if a toothbrush is too old and could be unsafe to use.

To benefit from Brush Logger, users should just brush like they normally do with their regular average-sized toothbrush. With Brush Logger sensor sleeves on the brushes and a “smart” holder, the toothbrush gets connected. By accumulating and logging toothbrush usage, the Brush Logger creates graphs that can be compared to what dentists recommend. This, according to the device makers, is a great tool to help children build healthy habits. Furthermore, adults can use it to retrain themselves toward dental hygiene, which contributes to heart health and overall health.

The main behind the Brush Logger is sound – there’s no need to buy a special toothbrush. We’ll see whether it can fly.
