Medical education startup Board Vitals has raised $1.1 million in Series A round led by Rock Creek Capital. The company which offers a platform of prep tools to help residents, attending physicians and fellows fare better on the medical boards will use the capital to hire new people to support an expansion of its customer base and market share.

Board Vitals’ service provides users with analysis on how they compare with peers and the difficulty of the question based on how many others got it right or wrong. So far, its platform has trained over 30,000 doctors and has been purchased by more than 150 institutions in the past year alone.

“It’s not only about new technology, it’s about building a new ecosystem for medical education,” said co-founder Dan Lambert. “Every piece of content on our platform is continually rated and we receive hundreds of feedback notices every week that ensure content is up to date.”

Board Vitals graduated from the fourth class of healthcare startup accelerator Blueprint Health. Other companies offering medical education services include ArcheMedX, Medical Simulation Corp., Osmosis and iHuman Patients.
