Medfusion, which makes a patient engagement platform for facilitating the relationship between doctors and patients, raised $3 million from two Durham, N.C.-based venture capital firms – Bull City Venture Partners and Hatteras Venture Partners.
Medfusion’s offering includes a patient-focused revenue cycle offering Medfusion Pay, and consumer mobile application Medfusion Plus, among other things. Said mobile app allows patients to aggregate their disparate health records, as well as those of their family members, on their mobile devices.
“Our customers are moving to new business models in healthcare with changing reimbursements — all while assuming more risk than ever before,” said Vern Davenport, Medfusion CEO. “Further, their patients are assuming more of the cost burden through high deductible health plans and other insurance tools. We must adapt as an industry to these major shifts, and with our new direction, we’re confident that Medfusion will lead the way to meet the needs of both providers and patient consumers through our platform and mobile initiatives.”
As part of the deal, David Jones, Partner at Bull City Venture Partners and John Crumpler, General Partner at Hatteras Venture Partners, have joined the Medfusion Board.
