Halo Neuroscience gets $9M for its neurostimulation technology

Halo Neuroscience has raised a $9 million Series A round led by Lux Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Jazz Venture Partners, SoftTech Ventures and Xfund.

The company has developed smart headphones, called Halo Sport, that work with a companion app to improve fitness performance through brain stimulation. The product uses technology that Halo Neuroscience refers to as neuropriming, relying on pulses of energy to accelerate strength and learning new skills.

Halo Sport uses neuropriming that relies on pulses of energy to accelerate strength and learning new skills.It wants to apply this tech for stroke rehabilitation, and has partnered with University of San Francisco Medical School and Medical University of South Carolina, to help it validate this application.

Another area of interest is athletics, and Halo Neuroscience has teamed-up with a few organizations to test the Halo Sport, including the United States Ski & Snowboard Association, Invictus Crossfit and Michael Johnson Performance. Three Major League Baseball teams are also using the device.

In addition, the U.S. Military has also expressed interest in applying the technology to accelerate sniper training.

According to Grand View Research, the neurostimulation device market is expected to grow to $8.79 billion by 2020.
