PokItDok

McKesson Ventures has made a strategic investment in PokitDok, the company’s co-founder and CEO Lisa Maki wrote in a blog post. No numbers were mentioned, but we do know that as part of the deal, Tom Rodgers, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at McKesson Ventures will join PokitDok’s board as an observer.

“McKesson is an established provider of enterprise-level healthcare data solutions, and our technology is the backbone to many of the critical healthcare transactions taking place every day,” Rodgers said in a statement. “PokitDok connects robust data streams like ours through an open platform for software engineers, health systems and their partners to build new and nimble products for patients and providers, giving them the consumer-centric offerings that today’s consumers demand.”

Launched in 2011, PokitDok has developed a set of APIs that allow healthcare companies to more easily build out apps and services, ranging from consumers scheduling a doctors’ appointments, connecting to insurance companies for eligibility checks, or quick payments or referrals in the doctor’s office. The platform can also help perform things like claims submissions, online scheduling, patient identity management and provider search.

Previously, the company raised $34 million Series B round led by Lemhi Ventures in August 2015.
