NurseGrid gets $2.5M for its nurse staffing management platform

Portland-based NurseGrid has raised $2.5 million for its mobile-enabled platform for staffing management and communication among nursing teams. The company will use the funds to boost its sales and marketing efforts, as well as to further develop the product. Returning investor Excelerate Health Ventures led the round with participation from new investors, including Toba Capital.

NurseGrid makes two products: a mobile app for nurses and a management platform for nursing departments. The mobile app — which has been downloaded 144,000 times and used on more than 5 million shifts — allows nurses to connect with colleagues, and manage their own schedules.

On the other hand, the management platform enables managers to communicate with staff and coordinate the department calendar.

The company started raising this round in January, said Vice President of Marketing Jordan Enright-Schulz, adding that founder and CEO Joe Novello and Vice President of Business Development Aloysius Fobi forged relationships with the health tech community that helped shape the round.
