Ultrahuman’s M2 Live makes glucose tracking cheaper and prescription-free

Ultrahuman has launched M2 Live, an updated continuous glucose monitoring platform for the US market. Compared to its predecessor, it’s cheaper, easier to access, and no longer requires a prescription. That last part is a bigger deal than it might sound.

The original M1 Live relied on Abbott’s Freestyle Libre sensor, which in the US is only available with a doctor’s prescription and comes with a significantly higher price tag. M2 Live switches to Abbott’s Lingo monitor, which anyone can buy over the counter. The sensor connects to the Ultrahuman app, where its glucose readings are combined with data from the company’s smart ring.

Continuous glucose monitoring has traditionally been a tool for people managing diabetes. That’s changing. A growing number of health-conscious consumers are now using CGMs to understand how food, sleep, stress, and exercise affect their body. Ultrahuman is positioning itself squarely in that market.

What the platform actually does

The pitch from Ultrahuman is straightforward: glucose data alone tells you something, but glucose data combined with your sleep, activity, and stress levels tells you a lot more. The company’s AI, called Jade, processes all of that information together and produces a metabolic score, along with recommendations for improvement.

The setup works like this:

It’s worth being clear that Ultrahuman is the interface here, not the sensor manufacturer. You’re buying access to Abbott’s hardware wrapped in Ultrahuman’s software experience.

Pricing and availability

M2 Live is available to order now in the US, shipping ahead of the originally announced timeline. Pricing breaks down as follows:

That’s still a meaningful expense, but it’s a step down from what prescription-based CGM setups have typically cost US consumers outside of insurance coverage. For anyone already paying for an Ultrahuman ring subscription, the M2 Live slot fits into a broader health tracking ecosystem rather than standing alone as a separate product.
