Portland-based Kannact, which makes web-based communication tools for health care, has raised $1.2 million, $637,000 of which came from outside investors. To date, the company has raised $3 million, with another $3 million in progress.
Kannact is in the midst of launching “Gladstone by Kannact,” a tablet-based communications tool that allows providers, caregivers and patients to interact. This device enables video conferencing, home-based vitals monitoring, offline texting and chatting, and patient education.
The primary target for Kannact’s product are patients with chronic conditions which could use this tool to manage their health more efficiently and stay out of the ER.
The company will be launching its product this spring at St. Charles Health System and the local Coordinated Care Organization for children with Type I diabetes.
