MapMyFitness launched a big update for its Android app, which is now in version 3.0. There are many changes included in this release, including a complete app redesign with a new workout recording experience and navigation that includes a slide out menu.
MapMyFitness for Android 3.0 has a new UI and a number of new features for both free and MVP/paid users.The mentioned recording experience includes upgraded integration with Google Maps allowing users to see their neighborhood in 3D with buildings, tilting and real time compass navigation. Moreover, users will also get to view their progress in new stats tiles within the workout.
After the workout, you’ll be served with new mobile graphs to view courses and splits instantly, as well as heart rate analysis (and zones).
There are also new friending capabilities, allowing you to connect via Facebook, Twitter or your Contacts list to invite others to join your MapMyFitness community. Here you can also view, accept or deny friend requests.
Finally MPV users — those paying $5.99 per month or $29.99 a year — also got new goodies, including mobile coaching, custom spits, heart rate graphs, leaderboard filtering and live tracking.
