Withings Activité fitness tracker doubles as a fancy watch

Withings Activité

If there’s one problem with modern fitness trackers it’s that most of them look like something only geeks would wear. Withings realized this problem and has teamed-up with designers in Paris to create a fancy looking watch everyone would want to buy. The new Withings Activité “fuses haute-couture design with intuitive, discrete technology” and — for what it matters — is made in Switzerland.

The Withings Activité has two hand dials, one showing the time and a sub dial showing percentage progress against specific activity targets such as steps or sleep.“At Withings, our mission is to Inspire health and with the Activité we have created a universally appealing tracker that promotes the benefits of healthier lifestyles in a chicly design watch people are eager to wear.” Said Cedric Hutchings, CEO of Withings. “The Activité is forged with the quintessential “French Touch” – the art of mixing design and style, inspirations and eras, traditions and innovations to create a 21st century timepiece that connects us to the time and universe around us as well as our bodies natural rhythms.”

Activité is described as a “contemporary reinterpretation of classical timepieces” that combines elegant design, luxury materials and haute-couture finishes, featuring classic round face and traditional analogue display. It has two hand dials, one showing the time and a sub dial showing percentage progress against specific activity targets such as steps or sleep.

Available in black or silver, the Activité also features premium materials such as stainless steel 316L, sapphire glass touchscreen (to tap between modes) and a fine leather strap. An interchangeable plastic strap is also included for sportswear and underwater use thanks to its waterproof capabilities (5ATM).

The Activité works with the Withings Health Mate app, using which you can develop personal activity plans, monitor progress and share results with your friends. As any other Withings devices, the Activité works with the Withings Health Mate application, using which you can develop personal activity plans, monitor progress, and share results with friends and colleagues. The watch will even vibrate with encouragement as goals are surpassed.

The sad news though, is that the Activité is not readily available; it will hit selected retailers and Withings.com in Fall 2014. It will come in black or silver with a price tag of $390.
