American Well raises $80M in Series C round

American Well

American Well raised $80 million in Series C round of funding from a pool of institutional, private equity and corporate partners.

The company offers a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that gives consumers direct access to their choice of U.S. board-certified clinicians for acute care, behavioral health and nutrition counseling. Rather than offering telehealth services directly to patients, American Well is partnering with health plans, employers and delivery systems looking to improve access to quality care and make it more affordable and transparent for consumers.

“Our mission is to transform healthcare from within by making it more convenient and less costly,” said Ido Schoenberg, MD, Chairman and CEO of American Well. “Together with our partners, we are now focused on expanding the role of telehealth to connect existing care teams with their patients and offer more services to chronically ill patients in their own homes.”

American Well’s mobile app is available as a free download for iOS and Android devices.
