Self-improvement app Lift hits version 2.0, secures additional $1.1M

Lift

Lift, the mobile app / online service that helps people build healthier habits, is now in version 2.0, bringing along a slew of new features, including the premium offering in the form of one-on-one coaching.

The free service will still include community support, whereas those opting to pay for a mentor will get a more personal guidance to achieve their goals. These mentors, according to Lift, have direct experience with the type of activity or habit users are trying to change, and there’s even an option to see what that person has accomplished within the Lift app. For example, for those interested in learning to eat a paleo diet, Lift will find someone who does the same.

Lift’s “instant coaching” with chat is now available to the public, costing $15 per week. The company has been quietly testing the coaching model since this summer, and has run a number of tests including those focused on productivity goals, dieting, and other healthy habits. During the test period, roughly 3% of participating users converted to premium plans, the percentage which is standard for freemium conversions.

Lift now has 700 coaches trained for 4,000 goals, and is launching “instant coaching” to the public. The service costs $15 per week and includes chats with coaches. Going forward, the plan is to expand to phone call consults or diet plans at higher rates.

According to Lift co-founder and CEO Tony Stubblebine, the service is now used by the “single digit millions” of users. Ahead of the new app release, the company raised a $1.1 million extension to its Series A round this July, backed by previous investors Obvious and Spark Capital.
