Razer unveils Nabu X as a cheaper version of the Nabu smartband

Razer unveils Nabu X

Razer has unveiled its second smart band at CES, the Nabu X, which is a more affordable version of the “regular” — and still not widely available — Nabu band.

The new device has pretty much all of the bells and whistles of the original Nabu minus the screen. Instead, it packs a set of three LEDs that should deliver notifications with differently colored lights to signify different apps. Users will still have to look at their smartphones to learn exactly what’s going on.

The fact that Nabu X doesn’t have an OLED screen means it’s also more affordable than its older brother. While the regular Nabu band goes for $99, the Nabu X could be had for $49.99. Even more, “Razor insiders” — who are members of the company’s forums and other services — will be able to get the new band for just $19.99 starting from Tuesday. The general public will have to wait for few more months, though.

The original Nabu began shipping to Insiders in December, with a general launch still to come.
