Sproutling has raised $3.9 million, according to an amended SEC filing. The San Francisco-based company started the round in August 2013 and has raised at least $6.5 million total to date.
Existing investors include First Round Capital, Forerunner Ventures, FirstMark Capital, Accelerator Ventures, Lemnos Labs, BoxGroup, and Napster co-founder Shawn Fanning.
Sproutling offers a health sensing device that a baby wears around their ankle to measure heart rate, skin temperature, motion and position. It sends this data to a companion mobile app to let parents know if the baby is sleeping or if there is some kind of issue. The application can also predict when the baby will wake up, and even relay whether the baby is calm, fussy or angry.
The device comes with wireless charging capability and its station has sensors of its own to monitor the baby’s environment; it can measure such details as room temperature, humidity and light levels.
Sproutling launched a “preview release” of its baby monitor in August 2014. At that time, the device was available for $249. It’s set to ship in March of this year, when it will retail for $299.
