Swatch is joining the smart watch market with the newly unveiled Touch Watch Zero One, aimed at beach volleyball players.
“Beach Volleyball is played all over the world, on beaches and in stadiums filled with huge crowds stomping their feet and clapping their hands as the action kicks up thrills and chills,” Swatch said in a statement. “Swatch Touch Zero One takes the already popular Swatch Touch one step further, adding great new functions to pump up the excitement for both players and fans.”
Unfortunately though, Swatch’s product doesn’t run Android Wear or any other OS for that matter. Rather, it uses some sort of proprietary platform to track volleyball players’ moves and hits.
The Swatch Touch’s built-in sensors will track the power of one’s strikes and spikes, along with claps, steps taken during the game (and therefore distance traveled), and calories burned. All the data gathered can be synced with a mobile app that will display the data, rate of performance and coaching help.
The Swatch Touch Watch Zero One be available later this year for $160 though we’re not sure when exactly will it start selling. More to come, obviously.
