Launched on February 13, 2015, MATTER is a not-for-profit organization that began as a project of ChicagoNEXT, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s council on technology and innovation. In addition to the $4 million from the state of Illinois, the accelerator has received more than $4.5 million in support from its industry partners.
