Intel-owned Basis unveiled a limited Titanium Edition of its fitness and sleep tracker, Basis Peak, along with a new line of fashionable leather accessory straps. The slightly fancier device will retail for of $299.99, up from $199.99, which is the price of the regular Peak smart watch.

Perhaps more important is the fact that the Basis app got an update that includes support for Apple HealthKit and Google Fit. These integrations allow users to share key Peak fitness data with several health and diet tracking apps for a more comprehensive picture of activities, fitness, diet and sleep. Metrics such as heart rate, calories burned, start/stop time, durations of runs, walks and bike rides and sleep duration are exportable for analysis by third-party apps compatible with Apple Health and Google Fit.

In addition, there’s the new smart watch firmware that brings along a stopwatch feature with basic functions like start, stop, lap and reset for users looking to track activities such as interval training. Plus, the so called Basis Peak Playground feature provides Basis with the ability to allow users to test potential future features and provide feedback to Basis.

Launched late last year, Basis Peak is based on a multi-sensor design that provides a comprehensive picture of fitness and sleep activities, including 24/7 heart rate monitoring even during exercise. The water-proof device also offers smartwatch notifications for text messages, phone calls and calendar events, while its battery supports up to four days of continuous use.
