On the heels of its upcoming IPO, Teladoc disclosed that they have acquired Stat Health Services, which operates the online doctor visit service Stat Doctors.

The offering is “being made in connection with the merger of Stat Health Services, Inc., into a wholly-owned subsidiary of the issuer,” the filing (PDF) reads.

The Scottsdale, Arizona-based Stat Health has raised at least $8.8 million to date. Its service helps patients contact doctors about medical questions round the clock, offering access to board-certified, practicing ER physicians through a smartphone app, web portal, or phone call. An average wait time to see a Stat Doctors physician is six minutes, and when applicable – the doctor can provide a patient with a prescription.

Stat Doctors’ physicians typically treat such conditions as respiratory infections, asthma, sinusitis, bronchitis, allergies, sore throats, and conjunctivitis. The company’s customers include the Arizona Small Business Association, Scottsdale Healthcare, and MagnaCare.
