HCSC launches the Healthy Family app to help manage preventive care services

Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) — which operates Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas — has launched a free family health manager app that provides an easy go way to manage and track important health screenings, and measure progress towards health and wellness goals.

Called Healthy Family, the application enables families to better manage their health by receiving reminders for important preventive health screenings such as childhood vaccinations (MMR, HepA, HepB, Polio), annual physicals, mammograms, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings.

Free to download, Healthy Family provides reminders for important preventive health screenings.“Our goal is to provide a simple, free app to help families become better informed and keep track of all of the recommended health screenings and vaccinations,” said Patrick Feeney, director of emerging trends at HCSC. “Healthy Family helps to lay the groundwork for a healthier future and provides families with useful information to make more informed health care decisions for themselves and their families.”

Upon the creation of a family member’s profile, Healthy Family will provide a list of recommended health screenings to discuss with their physician. Members can also input notes to discuss with the doctor as well as set reminders for recommended vaccinations, such as the flu shot. Additionally, the app allows users to input height and current weight to track BMI, input historical medical and test information, view educational information on preventive care and testing needs.

HCSC’s Healthy Family app is free and currently available in English and Spanish for iOS and Android devices.
