It’s the World Heart Health Day, and MOCACARE is launching its MOCAheart smart device that gives people a new way to track their heart health without the need for bulky cuffs or complicated monitors.
MOCAheart combines thumb scans with sophisticated algorithms that measure blood flow and velocity to determine heart rate and blood oxygen levels, as well as an easy-to-understand indicator of overall cardiovascular health called MOCA INDEX.

With a gentle grip of the MOCAheart device, the optical sensor scans both thumbs and then displays results on the companion iOS app within 25 seconds. The simple MOCA INDEX 1-5 scale (Low, Ideal, Raised, High or Very High) provides an immediate overview of cardiovascular health, explanation of indicators and recommendations on next steps, should any be required.
Said app also provides users with visual graphs of daily, weekly, monthly or annual trends, with the ability to share this information with their loved ones and/or healthcare providers. Users can also set reminders to take readings.
MOCAheart is now available from MOCACARE’s website for $149.99. Aside from the actual device, the package also includes the MOCA leather keychain and MOCA phone case.
Palo Alto-based MOCACARE has literally kickstarted its business in a crowdfunding campaign that managed to raise $120,000 from early backers. Then, last month, the company has raised an additional $4 million to bring its product to the market.
