Medscape Consult allows physicians to collaborate on cases with their phones

WebMD’s division Medscape launched Medscape Consult, a digital platform made to support physicians with peer-to-peer insights and evidence-based answers at the point of care.

Medscape Consult is a new feature of Medscape’s flagship app that allows physicians to share cases, ask questions, and discuss best practices in real time, with quick access to Medscape’s Drugs & Diseases reference database and expert decision support. The feature will ensure a depth of scientific rigor and clinical utility through moderated environment with physician authors and expert reviews for selected content.

With Medscape Connect, physicians are able to share interesting or challenging de-identified cases and consult with other physicians.With Medscape Consult, physician interactions and information-sharing will be housed in a moderated environment with editorial oversight to provide concise and scientifically-grounded information.

“We have created Medscape Consult to help physicians provide better patient care, and we’ll continue to integrate physician feedback to ensure as clinically robust a tool as possible,” said Steve Zatz, WebMD President. “With Medscape Consult, we hope to improve patient outcomes by harnessing the collective knowledge of the professional healthcare community so that physicians can solve, share, search and collaborate on clinical cases.”

With the new tool, physicians are able to share interesting or challenging de-identified cases and consult with other physicians, comment on other physicians’ cases, ask questions and search for answers, connect and collaborate with medical colleagues and experts, and eventually raise their profile within the community.

At the moment, Medscape Consult is a mobile-only offering with desktop version coming early next year.
