Sworkit Kids launches to help kids stay active

Sworkit Kids app

The company behind the popular fitness app Sworkit, Nexercise, is launching a new offering for kids, to make “fitness fun for the whole family.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures, it is recommended that children participate in 60 minutes of physical activity each day. And Sworkit — which stands for Simply WORK IT — is hoping to help children reach these goals with the new app that was also designed to teach them to love exercise from an early age.

“We want kids to grow up healthy, successful, and confident in themselves,” said developer Ryan Hanna. “Getting them up and moving is a way to encourage this lifestyle and increase their physical and mental development.”

Featuring exercise videos demonstrated by kids for kids, the application is focused on movements that promote strength, agility, and flexibility, and can be performed in segments of 5 minutes or more. The app challenges users to, say, crab crawl for 30 seconds or do 10 squats; to hop on one foot or walk the tightrope. Exercises like these, the company claims, will get “those little legs moving and their blood pumping” while keeping them entertained.

Sworkit Kids is now available as a free download from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.

Nexercise’s original Sworkit app was launched in 2014 to deliver on-demand, video exercise programs that can be done anywhere, anytime.
