Wildflower Health is bringing its mobile maternity program Due Date Plus to Louisiana and Texas, to help payors engage members to better predict, prevent and treat high-risk pregnancies. Through Wildflower’s commercial and Medicaid health plan clients, the program currently covers over two million lives.
The company’s data-driven platform identifies high-risk complications and drives appropriate actions based on health plan benefits, provider resources and local programs throughout the entire pregnancy. All this information can be shared with doctors, nurses and health managers to better manage the pregnancy process. Other features give patients access to a 24/7 nurse hotline and location-based search for providers and public health nurses.
Due Date Plus can also help Medicaid patients identify and even mitigate their risk factors such as smoking, which is particularly present among adults who are below the poverty level.
Due Date Plus can also help Medicaid patients identify and even mitigate their risk factors such as smoking.“By engaging an increasing number of lower income women during their pregnancies, we believe that we can help them take greater control of their overall health and give them the tools they need to create longer, healthier lives for their families and themselves,” said Leah Sparks, co-founder and CEO of Wildflower Health.
According to a recent study by OptumInsight, women on Medicaid — which finances 45% of all births in the United States — may be at even higher risk for adverse birth outcomes than those with private insurance.
In June of this year, Wildflower Health has raised $5 million from Easton Capital, Hatteras Venture Partners, Cambia Health Solutions and HealthTechCapital.
