Slendertone unveils smart fitness wearable to engage and tone muscles

Slendertone Connect Abs

The smart toning ab belt called Slendertone Connect Abs has been unveiled at CES, designed to actively engage and tone core muscles with Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology that creates a gentle current to engage the abdominal muscles. Relying on Slendertone’s FDA-approved abdominal strengthening system and mobile technology, the system acts as a virtual trainer offering five goal-driven programs — Essential Toning, Upcoming Event, Post-Natal, Fitness and Advanced Toning — with feedback, tracking, motivation and content. Users can use the companion app and online portal to create their own profile, set goals and monitor daily progress in real time.

“The level of program customization combined with the interactive mobile and online platforms allow each user to have a truly unique and personalized experience that is tailored to help them meet their toning goals, whatever they may be,” Mike Nohilly, Vice President of Slendertone North America, said in a statement.

Once collected, the data can be shared, including intensity levels, program and toning progress and F.I.T. scores. The last mentioned represents a weekly power score measuring the user’s progress against their individual toning program including Frequency, Intensity and Toning. The app also invites users to join the Slendertone community to benchmark against other users.

As for that online portal, it’s a hub of sorts from where users can track progress, showcase badges earned, and access content such as relevant fitness and exercise articles, videos and tips.

The Slendertone Connect Abs will be available for a suggested retail price of $229 in February at and in-store and online at retailers nationwide including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Bloomingdales, as well as
