HIMSS Europe announced the first confirmed speakers for upcoming eHealth Week 2016, taking place in Amsterdam from June 8-10. The keynote speakers for the event include:
- Edith Schippers, Dutch Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport
- Martin van Rijn, State Secretary of Health, Welfare and Sport
- Vytenis Andriukaitis, Commissioner Health and Food Safety
- Jeroen Tas, CEO of Connected Care & Health Informatics, Philips
- Daan Dohmen, CEO of Focus Cura
The event will attract more than 2,000 international experts.Now in its sixth edition, eHealth Week will address key topics around the development of eHealth in Europe during several educational sessions, with a particular focus on the increasingly important role of the patient. The event will attract more than 2,000 international experts in IT and healthcare, public institutions, professional and patient organizations.
“I want technology to become as evident in healthcare as it is in normal life, to serve the people who need our care,” Martin van Rijn, State Secretary of Health, Welfare and Sport, said in a statement. “The eHealth week will show a wide range of best practices of which I am sure they inspire all participants.”
Among the most anticipated sessions are those dealing with telemedicine and eMental Health. The former session will address questions such as: “What are the major developments in telemedicine?” and “How can we get our systems ready to implement the latest techniques for telemedicine?” On the other hand, the latter will focus on the online prevention and treatment for enhancement of care mental conditions.
eHealth Week will also focus on how Shared Decision Making (SDM) can be supported to empower patients and enhance the relationship between the patient and the provider.
