The Humana Pharmacy app has been updated with support for Apple Watch, enabling Humana members to get reminders to refill prescriptions and track their prescription orders with a few taps on their wrist. According to Humana, this is one of the first mail order pharmacy apps of its kind for the device and accompanies a major update to the Humana Pharmacy app for iPhone.
Aside from providing members with refill reminders, the app also offers order tracking to show members exactly when their order will arrive. Also, another feature will be added later in the year to remind members to take their medicine.
In addition, the iPhone version of the app got new features, including videos with safety information about medications, the ability to use the phone’s camera to scan barcodes on a medication to request a refill and/or to transfer the prescription from a retail pharmacy to Humana Pharmacy.
“Our new Apple Watch app makes managing medications and adhering to medication therapy easier than ever before,” William Fleming, President of Humana Pharmacy Solutions, said in a statement. “For people managing multiple daily medications, these tools can make a real difference in helping our members optimize their drug therapy and achieve their best health.”
The Humana Pharmacy app is the company’s second Apple Watch app; in April 2015, it launched Cue by Humana, which prompts users to take small, daily actions known to result in better health.
