Target connected health sections being trialed as we speak

Target wants a piece of the fast-growing connected healthcare market having launched dedicated sections within a number of its stores that offer these sort of devices. The pilot program involves 550 of nearly 1,800 Target stores and is expected to be in place by May.

The Connected Care sections are approximately 6 feet wide packing some 14 different medical-grade products such as blood pressure monitors and pain management tools, all of which can connect to smartphones and tablets.

Target selected Qardio as a lead vendor of sorts, and it will be represented by its QardioArm blood pressure monitor and QardioBase wireless smart scale, among other devices. The company joined Target’s healthcare roster last October.

“We’re constantly looking for opportunities to evolve our assortment and shopping experience to meet the changing needs of our guests,” the Target spokeswoman told Twice. “We know our guests are increasingly interested in these types of products, and will evaluate future growth plans based on their feedback and sales results.”

Looking into the future, it’s only natural to see other retailers following suit and launching their own sections dedicated to connected healthcare. That being said, we’re sure that the likes of Withings and iHealth are talking to Walmart and K-Mart representatives as we speak…
