Oman’s Ministry of Health has launched a smartphone app to remind parents of their children’s vaccination schedules by sending a voice mail and a text message. Additionally, the application also provides full access to all the needed information regarding communicable diseases.
“By using this app, you can create a profile by filling the required data such as name, date of birth, address, etc. Options of next follow-up are also included to act as a reminder for parents,” said Dr. Idris Saleh Al Obaidani, director of the Communicable Diseases Surveillance & Control Department.
The Ministry of Health, represented by the Communicable Diseases Surveillance & Control Department, recently organized a workshop on how to use Immunization Follow-up Programme on smartphones.
Participants included Immunization Programme Supervisors, EPI nurses in health establishments, and heads of Health Education departments from different governorates of the Sultanate.
