For one reason or another, up until this point – the Nike+ FuelBand was available for iPhone users only. No more – Android users can now join the part and connect their smartphones to Nike’s fitness band.
The Nike+ FuelBand wirelessly connects to your app, allowing you to see your progress on a mobile device and get the motivation you need to get moving. The application, available as a free download from the Google Play Store, supports most of the popular devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5; Nexus 5; HTC One and Moto X; though we guess new models will be added shortly.
Just like that was the case with the iPhone version, the FuelBand for Android works in the background, measuring your everyday activity and turning it into NikeFuel. The Nike+ FuelBand wirelessly connects to your app, allowing you to see your progress on a mobile device and get the motivation you need to get moving.
You can see this progress against the goal broken down by day, week, or month; and save all that information directly to your Nike+ profile online. In addition, there’s the option to customize your device display, change the time and update your Daily Goal. Another feature makes sure you stay active by enabling Move Reminders that encourage you to Win the Hour. You can also compete for the top slot on your Friend leaderboard.
The Nike+ FuelBand app is not the only fitness tracking app available for Android (and iOS for that matter), but it comes from a major company, hence it’s a big deal. If you’re looking for this kind of application, there are many alternatives to try out, including RunKeeper, Endomondo and MapMyFitness, to name the few.
