Just in time for the new iOS, MapMyFitness updated its iPhone app with few new capabilities, including all-day activity tracking, added connectivity to third party devices and bigger graphics for big-screen iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Moreover, the company said it will integrate with Apple’s HealthKit in the near future.
Mentioned all-day tracking relies on wearable devices like the Jawbone UP and Withings Pulse, as well as M7 or M8 motion co-processor available in the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
MapMyFitness will integrate with Apple’s HealthKit in the near future. The capability will allow MapMyFitness to remove duplicate data from existing devices connected to MapMyFitness. For example, if you walk 10,000 steps with your Jawbone and then do a 3 mile run that you record through a MapMyFitness app, we’ll be able to pull the data into two separate activities on the calendar view.
Also important in this release is seamless connection to third-party apps and devices. Overall, the MapMyFitness suite of apps now integrates with more than 400 fitness tracking devices, apps and wearables.
Finally, MapMyFitness, apps as well as the Under Armour Women app, got better graphics to look better on bigger iPhones (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus).
