Wellograph’s smart watch is now available for retail purchase. Touted as the first smart watch with a sapphire crystal display, the device doubles as an activity tracker with built-in heart rate monitor.
The wellness watch provides insightful information about the wearer’s activity through 9-axis motion sensor and tri-LED integrated heart rate sensor. The wellness watch provides insightful information about the wearer’s activity through 9-axis motion sensor and tri-LED integrated heart rate sensor, all in a sleek package “designed to take users from the boardroom to the gym.” This, according to Wellograph, makes dedicated activity trackers like Shine, Jawbone UP and Fitbit obsolete. What’s more, the watch is also functionally independent, working perfectly even without a smartphone; it has enough capacity to store up to four months of data internally.
However, the real magic happens when a smartphone is connected to the Wellograph, when you get to sync and analyze the data collected during your walks, runs and so on. The company made sure all of the popular platforms are supported, including iOS, Android and Windows Phone, each of which has a dedicated mobile app.
Wellograph can last for seven days on a single charge. When it comes to the battery life, Wellograph says you’re good for about a week on a single charge. That right there is an impressive feat. In comparison, most of today’s smart watches, aside from Pebble, can work for up to 3 days or so.
Alas, it won’t be easy for Wellograph to compete with the likes of LG, Samsung, Asus, Motorola and eventually Apple, all of which have more resources (i.e. money) to spend on marketing. We at mHealth Spot like cheering for the underdog and would like to see Wellograph kicking asses. If you want to help, you can buy your very own Wellograph watch for $349. The device is available at Wellograph.com, Amazon.com and will hit Microsoft stores in mid-September. Those who have already preordered Wellograph will receive their watch by September 12.
