BITalino is purpose-built, all-in-one, low cost hardware and software toolkit designed for quick and easy creation of projects with body signals, development of quantified self wearable devices or apps. Or, it could be used as a learning guide for development of medical devices.
The toolkit provides Arduino-compatible software and hardware blocks with sensors for Electrocardiography (ECG), Electromyography (EMG), Electrodermal Activity (EDA), Accelerometry (ACC), and Ambient Light (LUX), as well as Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) wireless communication support to a software toolkit to see the signals in real time or replay offline.
BITaliano is looking to raise $50,000 at the crowdfunding website Kickstarter. This unique Do-It-Yourself (DIY) toolkit can be used by virtually anyone interested in creating projects ranging from muscle activated air drones to heart-rate monitoring bicycle handlebars, smart objects, interactive installations, or affordable medical devices and personal diagnostics apps.
So far the company has sold over 1200 units, but the main goal is to expand on DIY hardware toolkits market, and involve more people to learn, prototype, and build innovative projects with sensors for body signals acquisition.
BITalino evolution is the brainchild of PLUX – Wireless Biosignals, S.A. and joint work with IT – Instituto de Telecomunicações. The project is looking to raise $50,000 at the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.
