Mayo Clinic has updated its iOS app for patients to make it compatible with Apple’s HealthKit platform.
One of the first big-name health providers Cook & Co. have managed to get on their side says its brand new iOS 8 application can collect data from an array of connected health devices by integrating with HealthKit. Similarly, Mayo Clinic’s patient app will also share information with HealthKit, presuming users give their consent.
“Users of the new Mayo Clinic app will have easier access to health information, guidance, and care when they need it most,” says Mayo’s medical director of public affairs John Wald, M.D. “Through the Apple Health app, users will be able to integrate information from other apps with their Mayo Clinic health information, creating actionable data to improve health and wellness.”
The application allows users to view Mayo Clinic health data through the Apple Health dashboard, contact their care team through secure messaging, view and manage details of their appointment schedule, and view any number of Mayo Clinic videos.
Going forward, Mayo plans to include additional features such as disease and condition management, and personalized feedback tailored for users.
