8Cups smart water bottle tracks user’s water intake

8Cups

8Cups is a new entrant in the water intake gadget market. Already, we’ve seen the Hug and now something rather similar — though not the same — is here.

This smart water bottle will sync with connected app on a mobile phone to track users’ water intake and remind them to drink more. The device contains integrated sensors that trigger an LED display to serve timely reminders, which come on a regular basis.

8Cups’ accompanying mobile app will gather and evaluate the data, and save it for future reference. The (obviously) water-proof bottle will know exactly how much water each users takes and sync that information with an accompanying app where the data is gathered, evaluated and saved for future reference. Additional app features include a calendar with timeline to graph water intake, motivational reminders, ability to set goals for water intake, and take selfies for comparison. There is even planned smartwatch compatibility, at some point in 2015.

8Cups also boasts a wireless charging system with each charge lasting up to a week of regular use. The top of the bottle is held on magnetically, to keep the bottle securely closed, yet easy to open.

Constructed out of Tritan, a safe, BPA-free type of plastic – 8Cups is long-lasting and wear resistant. And because it will replace disposable water bottles, it also happens to be an eco-friendly product.

8Cups comes in 5 colors: Pure White, Space Black, Deep Purple, Shiny Emerald, and Ruby Red. A single unit goes for $59 (early-bird) on Indiegogo, where the company is looking to raise $70,000.
